Vessel Project of Louisiana envisions empowered, resilient individuals and communities that will restore hope following crisis and revolt against disaster capitalism and climate chaos, in favor of a more peaceful and sustainable world.

FRAMEWORK

At Vessel Project of Louisiana, we realize the intersectionality of the challenges that plague BIPOC communities. We understand that we can not focus on just one issue because they are all interrelated: environmental justice, climate justice, voting suppression, access to housing, energy, clean water, safe fresh produce, and healthcare, and many other matters.

Our work is framed by a commitment to the following shared principles:

1. We’ve got your back.

Here at Vessel Project, we want you to know that we have your back and that you don’t have to do it alone. We will do all that we can to assist you with meeting your most emergency need.

2. No one left behind.

Here at Vessel Project, we do not turn down anyone who asks for assistance. While we may not be able to meet all needs directly, we will work with you to find the best resources for your needs.

3. Mutual Aid is mutual.

Mutual aid is not charity, but the building and continuing of new social relations where people give what they can and get what they need, outside of unjust systems of power.

MISSION

The mission of The Vessel Project of Louisiana is to help our most vulnerable communities—black, indigenous, people of color, and low income—by meeting their emergency needs in a way that is as efficient and barrier-free as possible and allows them to maintain their dignity and advocate for themselves.
